Follow Up!

The other day, I scheduled a doctor's appointment for February 2025. I've been waiting since early this year, and I suppose I got lucky since most people wait even 3 years (36 months) to book this type of appointment.

That's one of the problems Canada, the U.K. and some other Western countries deal with these days.

Why we got here and what are the solutions is probably a topic for another conversation.

How I managed to get this appointment in record time (1 year) is the interesting part...

It is because ... I followed up.

Probably at the right time, but I followed up - something many (most, and myself included) don't do as often as we should.

You'll see that the most successful people you'll meet/study have certain qualities - persistence being one key trait.

If you're anything like me, working with multiple clients and feeling frustrated with each one requiring a separate email, constantly logging in and out and creating new Gmail addresses, I might have a solution for you.

Don't worry if the sentence above doesn't make sense for you; it does for those who can use the tutorial I put together on how you can create a Google property using your existing email address (@yahoo, @hotmail, etc.) to access anything Google related (except Gmail): YouTube, Google Business Profile, Google Analytics, Google Ads Manager, Google Tag Manager... and more. Check the video and the blog, and if you haven't done so, please like and subscribe to my personal YouTube channel.

Have you ever met someone who's literally an imbecile but somehow manages a big company/a great team/a successful business? It's because, at one point, he followed up when most didn't.

After figuring this out, I looked at my notes and decided to follow up on a few prospects, and... (not) to my surprise, I'm in advanced negotiation with some.

Just because I decided to follow up after seeing the success I had with my appointment. That's it! I should have followed up sooner on that one as well...

I guarantee you have money/business just sitting there in your pipeline.

Look back 2 years ago and shoot an email or a text message:

Hey Mark*, it's

You can even leave it at that.

I'm not a salesperson; one would probably tell you a few other techniques or words to use when following up.

I've been spending time close to the sales pit, so I've seen more styles than one can imagine.

Chances are you're not a salesperson** either.

So, just because of that, you're willing to leave some business hanging there in your inbox?

Yes, you can Google some ideas on what to say.

And yes, you can ask ChatGPT to write up a message (ensure you don't insert words you wouldn't use).

But I guarantee there's money waiting for you, and a simple message like the one above is a conversation starter.

You're welcome.

*Mark is a name I use when naming a fictional character.

**Not true - philosophically, we're all in sales.

Song of the day. I don't watch The Voice or similar talent shows. Every once in a while, a song comes into my playlist from these shows, and it stays there for a while. This time, a young Romanian artist. I hope to hear more from him (it's been a while since I did 🙂)

What's Going on with the SEO Software Market in 2024?

Someone shared this article with me. I'm in the middle of reading it, but if you follow the SEO community, you know some serious acquisitions happened. Here are some more details.

Gaps Income Report, October 2024: 41 Insights on Digital-First Startups

I've shared reports from Glen Allsopp before. Behemonts - but I enjoy reading them because of the details shared, and I get hyped and inspired and do work. Why wouldn't I work on a WP plugin that brings $2mil/year?

What the most experienced marketers do differently? (new data + tips from 9 experts)

There's a correlation between great results and the amount of effort you put into those great results (duh). I was reading some of the contributor's experiences and said (14+ years; 20+ years) and a note to their first articles (2004, 2006, etc.), and it hit me. I started my own blog in 2009, but I have written before that on others. Does that mean that I am... neah... I just started in this business.
